Board Of Directors

Our board of directors represents a well-informed and connected cross-section of local people interested in helping the port to expand and develop the regional economy.   They come from diverse backgrounds and bring a wealth of experience and expertise to the board.

Harry Williamson
Chairman

Harry H. Williamson, Q.C. has numerous degrees from the University of New Brunswick including a Bachelor of Laws Degree. He has been practicing law since 1975 and was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 1991. Mr. Williamson is past President of the Law Society of New Brunswick, past Chairman of the New Brunswick Law Foundation and currently serves as Chairman of the Bathurst Public Trust Funds Inc.

Claude Doucet
Vice-Chairman

J. Claude Doucet, Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors has industrial expertise in Management Processes, Human Resource Management and Environmental procedures. He holds management certificates from Dalhousie University, the Atlantic Region Management Training Centre, Tennessee Associates International Ltd., and George Washington University. In addition, he has over twenty years of first and second line supervisory experience. Mr. Doucet has also acted as corporate liaison to the federal and provincial environment regulatory agencies and managed environmental risks associated with mining and marine cargo in transit.

Nancy McKay
Director

Ms. McKay has been a management consultant, primarily in health services, for the past seventeen years following extensive clinical practice as a physiotherapist. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Physiotherapy and a Master’s Degree in Science and Administration with a concentration in the health sector.
Ms. McKay is involved with a number of non-profit boards including Enterprise Chaleur, the N.B. Sports Hall of Fame and the Foundation Board for the provincial Stan Cassidy Centre for Rehabilitation. In the past she served as vice-chair of the 2003 Bathurst-Campbellton Canada Winter Games, past president of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association and a member of the executive committee of the World Confederation for Physiotherapy. She also co-chaired a round table on the economy and sustainable development for the Greater Bathurst Region and chaired a committee planning for future economic diversification.


Léo Cormier
Director

Léo Cormier holds a bachelor degree of arts from Université de Moncton, and has studied business management, public administration, financial, and human resources management. He has worked in administration and management for several years with a number of financial institutions in the Bathurst area. For the past eight years, Mr. Cormier has worked for a transportation company as an account executive for Northern New Brunswick



Albert Doucet
Director

Albert Doucet attended l’Université du Sacré-Coeur and the former Collège de Bathurst. Throughout his business career, he has been actively involved in regional and economic development and has served on various boards and committees. He was Vice-President and a founding member of the Conseil Économique du Nouveau Brunswick and served as Chariman of the Chaleur Regional Development Commission, He was first elected as MLA in 1991 and again in 1995 and served as New Brunswick Minister of Mines and Energy in 1995.

Basile Chiasson
Director

Basile Chiasson, Q.C., practices law in Bathurst, New Brunswick, with the law firm of Chiasson & Roy.  He was called to the Bar in New Brunswick in 1983 and practices mostly in general civil litigation, municipal law, and planning law.  Mr. Chiasson was appointed Queen's Counsel in 2004 and has been awarded the Distinguished Service Award of the New Brunswick Branch of the Canadian Bar Association in 2005.  Mr. Chiasson publishes regularly in various law reviews and newsletters and is a regular speaker at various legal events and seminars in New Brunswick and elsewhere in Canada.  He has also been invited to speak in recent years at the Canadian Department of the International Municipal Lawyers Association's annual meetings in the U.S.A.  Mr. Chiasson is the author of the Rules of Court of New Brunswick Annotated, a reference book, which was originally published in 1989.  This book has been updated on six different occasions with the last update released in 2005. Mr. Chiasson currently pursues a part-time master of municipal law degree from Osgoode Hall Law School.

Barry Kyle
Director

Barry Kyle, holds a bachelor of arts degree and a bachelor of education degree from Mount Allison University.  He began his career in sales and marketing in 1978 with Bathurst Industrial Rubber Ltd. He became owner of the company in 1985.  Mr. Kyle is a long-time resident of Bathurst and has been a member of a number of professional associations, including the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum, the Canadian Professional Sales Association, and the Bathurst Regional Economic Development Agency where he served as a director for three years.
