Terminal I
Our first terminal, built in 1968, is 155 metres (169.5 yards) long by 15 metres (49.2 ft.) wide with a depth of 10. 4 metres (34.12 ft.) alongside at chart datum. It can accommodate Handysize vessels between 20,000 – 37,000 DWT. The terminal, which is currently under a long term lease, is used primarily for import and export of ore concentrates, sulphuric acid, and liquid petroleum cargoes by Xstrata Zinc/BMS. It has an automated ship loader and reversible conveyor system capable of handling approximately 1,800 metric tonnes (1980 imperial tonnes) of dry cargo per hour. Ships from Croatia, Norway, the Netherlands, China, Japan, and Peru use this terminal. Terminal One plays a significant role in maintaining the port’s shipping traffic. The port has the capacity to handle between 100 and 200 ships on an annual basis. |
